Basic Chords with David O'Toole
11 minutes
1 Guitar Chords Lesson 1 - key of C (2:30 minutes)
This first part covers the basic chord group from the family "C". These are possibly the easiest chord shapes - as well as the most commonly used

2 Chords - key of G (1:05 minutes)
There's only one barre chord to play in this one, the B minor, so it's an easy enough one to pick up for beginners. Most of the time you won't hear the m7b5 chord being used in songs as it isn't a very strong sounding chord.

3 Chords - key of D (1:45 minutes)
D is a very popular guitar key with simple-to-add D embellishments such as and D sus2 (used in the outro) and Sus4 (covered later). Contains two barre chords.

4 Chords - key of E (1:11 minutes)
E is a popular key and it uses the lowest E note available on a standard tuned guitar, and is a powerful Rock and Blues key standard.

5 Chords - key of F (1:48 minutes)
The key of F is not used as often for guitar because it has a lot of barre chords and not a lot of ringing open string ones. It can be a difficult key for beginners uncomfortable with barre chords.

6 Chords - key of A (1:04 minutes)
A is a very popular guitar key with the 3 main chords A D E - which are easy to play, and all feature the open strings. This gives the key a very full sound on the guitar. There's more songs out there in A than you can shake a stick!

7 Chords - key of B (1:46 minutes)
B is a key that is not used too often on the guitar because of the barre chords - and not too many open chords.
