Essential Guide


Video Guitar Lesson Format
A screen shot of a Guitar Masterclasses video guitar lesson in shown below. The top part of the screen is the video play and the bottom half contains supplementary information. The number at the top right of the screen (6 in this case) represents the difficulty level from 1 (easiest) to 10 (most difficult). A typical video guitar lesson is around 5-8 minutes long and is broken into separate 1-2 minutes clips, highlighted by the small numbered boxes underneath the video player.

Video Player Controls

an image Full Screen Mode
Click on this icon to change to full screen mode. Pressing the escape (ESC) key will return to the standard player size.
 
an image Player Controls & Settings
Play and pause buttons allow you to play and pause the video. The settings buttons allows you to select low, medium and high quality video; higher quality though requires longer loading times.  
an image Lesson Clips
Each lesson comprises of a number of short video clips. The first track in the sequence (not numbered) is the music to be learnt in the lessons. The next video clip (numbered 1) is the instructor providing an explanation. Clip number 2 is then the initial sequence to be practiced by the student and the remaining clips add more variation. Each of the playing clips show the instructor playing three times, once a full shot view showing both playing hands, the second a close up of the fret hand and the third a close up of the strumming/picking hand. are the

The metronome feature allows you to set the metronome to play at different speeds to practice the music..
 
an image Small/Large Player Mode
In addition to the full screen mode, a small player mode can also be selected. The small player view is shown below.

The width of the backing track window can be set to wide (as shown here) or narrow by clicking on the respective arrow keys.

Several backing trakcs are provided with each lesson to allow you to practice with accompaniment at different speeds.

Two icons appear in the tools window. The first is a tab icon which provides the tablature for the lesson and opens in a new browser window. A portion of the tablature for this lesson is shown below.

Guitar Masterclass - Example Tablature

The second icon provides a file that can be used with Guitar Pro Software or TuxGuitar, a multitrack tablature editor and player.
